Dr. Stephen Scheidt, our colleague and friend died on August 7, 2007. Steve was known to many of you for his enthusiasm and dedication to the Salzburg Weill Cornell Seminar program.

In July of 1993 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Nevertheless he conducted his first Cardiology seminar in November, bringing the 100 most important articles in Cardiology to share with his fellows. The syllabus weighed 10 lbs.!

After spending a week in Salzburg he returned to New York for his surgery.


Steve conducted 15 seminars from 1993 to May 2007. He also travelled to many countries in the region and conducted a total of 10 satellite symposia in:

  • June 23-24, 2006, Yerevan, Armenia
  • September 29, 2005, Voronezh, Russia
  • September 30, 2005, Moscow, Russia
  • Oct 1-3, 2004, St. Petersburg, Russia
  • Oct. 4-5, 2004, Poznan, Poland
  • Oct. 10-11, 2003, Kaunas, Lithuania
  • Oct. 18-20, 2003, Kiev, Ukraine
  • June 6-7, 2000, St. Petersburg, Russia
  • 1994 Pecs, Hungary

He shared his knowledge and expertise with hundreds of physicians in the
countries of the former Communist world.

We know you all feel this loss as keenly as we do.
