Dr. Jennifer Brainard obtained her undergraduate degree from Saint Mary’s
College in Indiana, with a major in Chemistry. She then pursued a Medical Degree
from Ohio State University. She completed a residency in anatomic and clinical
pathology at the Cleveland Clinic, where she was honored with the position of
Chief Resident. Dr. Brainard then moved to the Medical College of Virginia for a
fellowship in surgical pathology and cytopathology, where she established her
subspecialty interests in cytopathology and gynecological pathology. Dr. Brainard came to the Cleveland Clinic in 2000 as a Staff Pathologist, where she has held a variety of administrative positions. Most recently, she was appointed as the Section Head of Cytopathology, where she leads a group of 6 pathologists who are subspecialized in cytopathology. Dr. Brainard is the recipient of numerous awards in pathology, including a prestigious teaching award at the Cleveland Clinic, The John Beach Hazard Distinguished Teacher Award. Her love for teaching is well-recognized by trainees and staff alike. Dr. Brainard has authored over 50 publications and abstracts in the areas of cytopathology and gynecological pathology. She gives numerous courses at national pathology society meetings.
