The American Austrian Foundation’s 13th Annual “Music for Medicine” benefit took place on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Carnegie Hall in New York. The evening featured a concert performed by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Zankel Hall, including Clemens Hellsberg (violin), Albena Danailova (violin), Dieter Flury (flute), Tobias Lea (viola), and Robert Nagy (cello).
Following the concert, a seated dinner took place in the Rohatyn Room. A live auction was conducted by Sotheby’s Jamie Ritchie; among the items up for auction were a trip to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s world-famous ball, a private concert with Yefim Bronfman, and a meal prepared in your home by Seäsonal Chef Wolfgang Ban. The evening also featured a raffle of more than thirty luxury items.
All funds raised at “Music for Medicine” will benefit the Salzburg Weill Cornell Seminars of the Open Medical Institute. Since its inception in 1993, 10,800 physicians from 115 countries have been trained by US doctors at 307 seminars covering more than 30 medical specialties.
