The Armenian Open Medical Club, The Fund for Armenian Relief Fellowship Alumni Association (FAR FAA), Yerevan State Medical University and The Armenian Youth Orchestra (conductor Sergey Smbatyan) organized a concert for the benefit of Schloss Arenberg on May 29th in the Main Conference Hall of Yerevan State Medical University.
More than 400 people attended, most of them Salzburg alumni. The Armenian Youth Orchestra was founded in November 2005 by students from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. Despite its recent formation, the Armenian Youth Orchestra has already performed all over the world. Sergey Smbatyan, violinist and prize-winner in international competitions, is the chief coductor and artistic director of the orchestra. Twelve year old piano soloist Anahit Arushanyan amazed the audience with her performance of Mozart, Komitas-Aslamazyan and E. Mirzoyan pieces.
The event raised approximately 4,500 Euros and Prof. Aulitzky announced that these funds will be put towards an “Armenian Lounge” in the newly constructed Schloss Arenberg.
