The Open Medical Institute's coordinators met in Vienna to discuss the program and aims for 2010. The meetings were very successful and a good opportunity for the coordinators to ask questions and make suggestions on how to improve the program.
December 11 - 12 - Satellite Symposium in Pediatric Urology in Belgrade, Serbia with Dr. Mike Carr and Dr. Thomas Kolon from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia serving as faculty members.
November 5th – Satellite Symposium in Congenital Cardiac Disease in Bratislava, Slovakia with Dr. Chen from Columbia/NYPH and Dr. Stein from the University of Innsbruck serving as faculty members.
The American Austrian Foundation’s 13th Annual “Music for Medicine” benefit took place on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Carnegie Hall in New York. The evening featured a concert performed by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, a special live auction, and a raffle of more than thirty luxury items. Guests from the medical world included Dr. Antonio Gotto, Dean of Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Thomas Sculco, Surgeon in Chief, Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Thomas Fahey, Senior Vice President for Clinical Program Development, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Dr. Stephen Ludwig, Assiciate Physical-in-Chief for Medical Education. Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Weill, major donors to Weill Cornell Medical College, Judy ZAnkel and Susan Rose, major supporters of Carnegie Hall, also attended.
The concert was followed by dinner and a live auction. The highest grossing prize, a private concert with Yefim Bronfman, was won by Barbara and Donald Tober.

The Armenian Open Medical Club, The Fund for Armenian Relief Fellowship Alumni Association (FAR FAA), Yerevan State Medical University and The Armenian Youth Orchestra organized a concert for the benefit of Schloss Arenberg. The funds raised ($6,000) will be used to help reconstruct Schloss Arenberg and the new lounge will be names "The Armenian Lounge" in honour of this event.
Dr. David Rubenstein and Dr. Friedrich Reiterer visited Bucharest to lecture on a variety of topics related to Maternal and Infant Health.

Drs. Aarti Sharma and Sudhir Diwan from NewYork Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College conducted the first Anesthesiology Satellite Symposium in Bishkek at Kyrgyz State Medical Academy and the National hospital. Over 150 physicians and medical students participated.
Shortly after 3 PM on Monday, April 20th a fire broke out on the roof of Schloss Arenberg, where two welders had been doing some repairs.
