Cultural Programs

“Behind the storm of daily conflict and crisis, the dramatic confrontations, the tumult of political struggle, the poet, the artist, the musician, continues the quiet work of centuries, building bridges of experience between peoples, reminding man of the universality of his feelings and desires and despairs, and reminding him that the forces that unite are deeper than those that divide.”                                                                                                         John F. Kennedy

We live in an age of diversity and integration. In our increasingly interdependent global economy, the ability to understand and unite differing cultures is vitally important; our society needs to establish a sense of world community.

Austria’s image in the world has traditionally, and to a large extent, been defined by her cultural heritage, and culture is also one of Austria’s strongest assests in her relationship with the United States.

The American Austrian Foundation’s cultural programs provide students from outstanding American universities the opportunity to spend up to one month at leading Austrian institutions to experience how music and art are created and performed in a different environment.  The American Austrian Foundation also supports the next generation of musicians with its children's music camps.
