Peter Husslein, M.D.

Born on May 27th 1952, son of Univ. Prof. Dr. Hugo Husslein, retired chief of the II. Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Vienna University and Dr. Adelina Husslein, gynecologist in Vienna.

Elementary school - Lycee Francais in Vienna High school - Theresianische Akademie Medical school in Vienna, graduated after 5 years sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae 1975.

Specialization in Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna.

Numerous stays abroad among others 6 months obstetrical and gynecological activity in Togo/ Lome, Westafrica, 18 months sientific acitivity at Cornell Medical School in New York.

1985 Venia docendi: " The Importance of Oxytocin and Prostaglandins for the Mechanism of Labour".

1992 full professor for obstetrics and gynecology and chief of the I. Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Vienna University.

After restructuring of the University-Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology chief of the Division of Obstetrics, 1996 administrative chief of the whole Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Vienna University.

Since 1998 Member of the Faculty of Medicine of the Vienna University and vice-speaker of the group of full professors.

Univ. Prof. Dr. P. Husslein is married to Dr. Agnes Husslein, born Arco, who is chief of the Austrian branch of Sotheby's.
