Details
The AAF and the Max Kade Foundation provide a travel stipend and pocket money, as well as accommodation during a one-month rotation in Austria. Rotating in Austria can be quite different from US rotations, as they are largely unstructured and requires fellows to take the initiative to communicate with doctors and residents. In Austrian hospitals the working language is German. If you expect to communicate with patients, you will need a working knowledge of German.
The travel grant and pocket money stipend is paid in two installments: 50% upon receipt of a confirmed itinerary and 50% upon receipt of the final report. The fellowship does not cover meals or incidental expenses. If you plan to travel on weekends, you should have personal funds available.
